London St Pancras International - Train Station Guide

London, United Kingdom

Pancras Road, London, NW1 2QP, United Kingdom

Station Hours

Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

London St Pancras International is the UK's gateway to mainland Europe, serving as the London terminus for Eurostar services to Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, and more. The station is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is located in central London on Euston Road, adjacent to King's Cross station. Originally opened in 1868 by the Midland Railway, St Pancras underwent an ยฃ800 million refurbishment and was re-opened by Queen Elizabeth II in November 2007 as an international terminal. The Grade I listed station features the iconic Victorian Gothic facade of the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and the magnificent Barlow train shed with its soaring vaulted roof. The station operates across two main levels: the lower level (street level) houses The Arcade with shops, restaurants, Eurostar departures, and the Thameslink platforms (A and B); the upper level contains the domestic train platforms (1-4 for East Midlands Railway, 11-13 for Southeastern), Eurostar platforms (5-10), and the famous Searcys Champagne Bar. The station is managed by three operators: HS1 Ltd (domestic platforms 1-4, 11-13), Eurostar (international platforms 5-10), and Network Rail (Thameslink platforms A-B). King's Cross St Pancras Underground station, served by six tube lines, provides direct access from the south side of the station.

Tips & Insider Advice

Arrive Early for Eurostar

Arrive at the recommended time shown on your ticket to complete all pre-departure checks. Ticket gates close 30 minutes before departure. All passport, security, and luggage checks take place before you board โ€” when you arrive at your destination, you simply walk off the train.

Find Eurostar Departures

Eurostar departures are in The Arcade on the lower level, halfway along and to the right when coming from the Underground. The most direct street entrance is on Pancras Road (not Euston Road). If arriving by taxi for Eurostar, ask to be dropped at the Pancras Road entrance.

Know Your Platform Areas

Platforms A-B (Thameslink): lower level, via escalators near Midland Road entrance. Platforms 1-4 (East Midlands Railway): upper level. Platforms 5-10 (Eurostar): accessed via departure lounge on lower level. Platforms 11-13 (Southeastern): upper level, escalators near Pancras Road entrance.

EU Entry/Exit System (EES)

From October 2025, the EU is gradually introducing new EES border procedures. Non-EU nationals should check the latest requirements on the Eurostar website before travel.

Champagne Bar on the Upper Level

The upper level is usually much quieter than the busy lower Arcade. Searcys St Pancras operates the world's longest champagne bar under the magnificent Barlow train shed. The Betjeman Arms pub is nearby.

King's Cross Is Next Door

King's Cross station is directly across Pancras Road โ€” less than a 5-minute walk. Both stations share the King's Cross St Pancras Underground station. Harry Potter fans can visit Platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross. The British Library is a short walk west on Midland Road.
